See you there..!!

CreScEndo

CreScEndo- The Freshers day party we organized for our juniors. The significance of CreScEndo in the “History” of our batch is that it is the first event organized completely by our batch and it “did” instill a “team spirit” in us.

The need for conducting an event like this was presented and emphasized by Alan,Farzin, Akhil etc. They tried their level-best to boost up the spirit of our class. Jobs were assigned to almost everybody in the class.

CreScEndo was the first Freshers day that was conducted in GEC that year. It was well-organized, I must say. For a sample, look at the name of the event and note the letters C,S,E in caps, if you haven’t yet..! Even Saipriya who was down with severe fever contributed by suggesting this name for the event…!

Many technical problems were there; For example, after consuming lots of time and effort of Namratha, Viswajeet, Ashwana, Farzin, Rahul , Syam… for preparation and its procedures, the permission letter got rejected by Principal. But everything was overcome by Farzin, Rahul and team..!! Eastern amphitheater, Sound, Refreshments, etc…everything was arranged. Salim made some exciting, funny sound clips for the event. Salim Ali, Rahul CP together with our senior Jain Aliyas, he told me, designed the flux which was later displayed at the College Galley junction.

I was in the procession committee..!! Sarath was in charge of Chenda and Ninto for “Mudravakyam”( For those who are not from GEC: Mudravakyam Vili is a exciting tradition followed by almost everybody in GEC.  It helps us to reach and break the barrier potential, there by becoming for reactive or active- Example : Idinadham muzhangatte.. Kadal randay pilaratte.. Compsciz varunnunde…!!! LOL ).

We were not able to conduct it on the day decided; A “Padippumudakku” was there..! But No probs, we got more time to decorate the amphi and set everything right and better.

If I’m not mentioning the names “Prashanth” “Varun”,etc.. my report on CreScEndo will be futile. Their wall drawings are excellent and I believe they will be there in the Eastern Amphi Forever(at least until new painting..!!). Everybody did their part in cleaning up and decorating the amphi. Even Bujis like Ranjith, Sruthi, Anoop, Deepthi…etc, were concentrating on the jobs they were doing with the same studiousness they show while taking down notes in the class. And the D-day came..

Program was to be conducted in the afternoon session. In morning session we started practicing Chenda at committee office(Vysakh’s room at MH..!!). We all were doing this thing for the first time. I think we all had the rhythm but the right hand-left hand co-ordination was the problem. We never thought we would do it properly. But Sarath taught us (Me,  Nipun, Vineesh, Sudheesh,..) in the right manner. He maintained his calm even when dealing with the uncontrollable Nipun…!!:). It is a fact that without Sarath’s co-ordination Chenda Melam would have been a Disaster..!! After rigorous practice we were ready. We went to the department.

Farzin used to stress on the point that the procession is what everybody sees and so we have to make it loud and grand. And I was in the Chenda committee..!! I was nervous…!! But we started the procession. Ninto, Syam, Muneer, Akhil, Alan etc lead the “Mudravakyam vili”, and the juniors also c-operated well. We slowly gathered confidence and did our part very well. We stopped before every department and junctions & the spirit was at its mezzo. In short we shook GEC..!! Can you believe this: The next day a friend of mine from Electrical while discussing about CreScEndo asked me whether the Chenda Melam was done by some professional teams..!! May be because all other departments were doing that. But we were unique by doing it ourselves. Anyway it was indeed a deserving compliment for us..!!

At last we reached Eastern amphi. After the exciting Mutka – maar we started the event. Salim and Sneha compered and of course they did it very well. Juniors were divided into groups and they were made to compete with each other.Groupleaders(Ashwana, Muneer, Abin, Namratha, Alan, Abina) were selected. Each group had a name and some of us were in each group to direct them.Group members were Ajilta, Anu, Arun, Ashik, Deepesh, Deepti, Jyothisha, Lishana, Nadeera, Parvathi, Neethu Isaac, Saranya, Sherin, Sreelakshmi VS,  Sruthi KD, Ummu hanan, Vinaya, Sanitha TS, etc.

Despite some problems posed by Principal due to our loud sound of the event everything was fine. Head of the Department Manoj Sir, our Tutor Helen Ma’am, Union chairman, representatives from our seniors- Devidas Bhai and Irshad Ikka spoke to us. Nidhin, Santana, Tisil, Sumesh,Vineeth were the lap and sound operators.

Event consisted of many exciting group competitions and items like mesmerizing Violin by Sruthi and Jeril, a sweet “Manasinu marayilla” by Midhun,  a “Rocking Rap”-“Smack that” by Syam and Namrata, “Aarumugam” by Ashwana, Saranya, Abina, Parvathy…etc. I must say – Juniors were hyper-active..! Ashwathy P.K, Athira, Sreelakshmi M.S, Ranjith, Anoop were the judges. The best group, Mr.Fresher and Ms.Freshers were selected. Each and every item was really nice and at last the program came to an end.

The most important feature of CreScEndo was – according to the poll conducted at our orkut community-“THE CO-ORDINATION AND CO-OPERATION”. Even though none would have remembered Alan’s words on the importance of working in a group(…!!!), it was actually what was  happening. Personal ego barriers broke and the spirit of a team was invoked in us.

Before stopping I would like to once again congratulate everybody in our class for making CreScEndo a memorable, wonderful event, especially Farzin, Rahul CP, Salim, Akhil, Alan…who were the heart and soul of CreScEndo.
